چکیده

Oxidative damage has been suggested as a potential mechanism for both atherosclerosis and neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's disease.' One report has noted a 2-5-fold increased risk of cardiovascular disease among patients with Parkinson's disease,2 suggesting that a common genetic variant may contribute to both diseases. One such candidate genetic factor, the ApoE-E4 allele, is found at a raised frequency in those with cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer's disease, but was recently shown not to be raised in patients with Parkinson's disease.3 Homocysteine is a pro-oxidant that acts via the copper catalysed, oxygen dependent, production of hydrogen peroxide. Moderately raised concentrations of the amino acid homocysteine (mild hyperhomocysteinaemia) confer a twofold to threefold risk of vascular disease. In a significant proportion of cases mild hyperhomocysteinaemia arises from the interaction of the homozygous thermolabile (tt) genotype of 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) with suboptimal folate and B12 nutrition.4 The tt genotype has also been directly associated with cardiovascular disease.5 We therefore determined the prevalence of the tt genotype in patients with Parkinson's dis-

Background: Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that affects synovial joints and causes joint damage due to stresses caused by an abnormality in any of the synovial joint tissues, including articular cartilage, subchondral bone, ligaments, menisci, periarticular muscles, peripheral nerves, and synovium. Objectives: To compare the effect of Sensory Motor Training versus Impairment Ba...

Intrathecal transplantation of cultured calf chromaffin cells attenuate sensory motor dysfunction in a rat model of neuropathic pain

The potential usefulness of chromaffin cells as a source of neuroactive agents for transplantation in the CNS is based on several promising features, including the diversity of biologically active neurotransmitters, neuropeptides and trophic factors produced by the cells. The purpose of this study was to test the possibility that motor as well as sensory dysfunction is reduced by cultured chrom...

Effect of Hypothermia by JZL-184 on Muscle Strength and Sensory-Motor Dysfunction in Permanent Middle Cerebral Artery Ischemia Model in Male Mice

Introduction: Currently, there is no effective and comprehensive treatment for ischemic stroke. There is strong clinical evidence for the benefits of hypothermia in neuroprotection. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the effect of mild non-invasive hypothermia by JZL-184 on behavioral improvement in stroke rats. Methods: This study was performed on 5 groups of male mice weighing 2...

بررسی رفتارهای حسی و حرکتی در رت‌های نوروپاتیک قبل و بعد از پیوند داخل نخاعی سلولهای کرومافینی

It has been reported that chromaffin cells secrete some neuroactive substances particularly opioid peptides and catecholamines which reduce pain. Adrenal medullary implant, have been used in other injury models to provide an endogenous source of catecholamines. The goal of the present study was to determine whether adrenal medullary implants in the spinal space could repair sensory and ...
